IBMATA are pleased to bring our internationally recognised Border Management & Technologies Summit conference and exhibition to the continent of Africa.
Our Africa event will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on the 9th – 11th May 2023. South Africa are at the start of merging their immigration and customs agencies to be placed under one roof called the Border Management Agency (BMA). This has led to the local government reviewing best practices and lessons learnt from other nations that have done this or are also thinking of merging the two agencies.
Our Border Management & Technologies Summit Africa show will discuss the latest challenges faced at the borders across Africa with regards to immigration, customs, smuggling, technologies and intelligence.
With many nations across Africa having large and vast land borders where people can cross borders undetected it is important to discuss the current challenges faced to border agencies and where technology can assist nations with their border security needs. Smuggling routes are seen across the length of Africa and many NGOs and governments are working to tackle the organised crimes. To do this governments need to build up strong intelligence and targeting systems to assist immigration, customs and border force officials to combat the illegal smuggling of humans and contraband.
The event will be chaired by the IBMATA Chairman, Mr Tony Smith, the former Director-General of UK Border Force.
